Bollywood beauty Aishwarya Rai declined to be immortalized as a Barbie doll due to her professional commitments. Negotiations between Aiswarya Rai and Barbie manufacturer Mattel did not materialize. In the last minute Mattel roped in Katrina Kaif. So Katrina walked the ramp in Nishka Lulla creations to celebrate the fifty years anniversary of Barbie on the first day of Lakme Fashion Week organized in a ball room (Hyatt Hotel, Mumbai). The ball room was decorated with extra long ramp, dressed in hundreds of meters of the characteristic Barbie pink silk with famed logo all around. Designer Vikram Pradhan’s creations opened the show. More dazzling gowns floated down the ramp by the famous designers.
Finally the beauteous Katrina Kaif radiantly glided down the ramp in Nishka Lulla’s award winning red sheded tieved mini with a brocade bodice clasped and a giant bow on the back. Lakme Fashion Week Autumn/winter 2009 “Barbie all Doll’d up” was with full of glitz, glamour, style and elegance .Bollywood celebrities like Minisha Lamba, Genelia, Sonu Sood walked on the ramp in the show. Katrina is delighted with the honour and said “Every girl at some point of time in her childhood has played with a Barbie doll” and so have I”.
